The Board of 23andMe

The Board of 23andMe

Many people are fed up with the attitude of 23andMe towards it’s genealogy (aka ONLY) customers. We’d like to see Ann Wojcicki replaced with someone who’s actually paying attention to the business more often than once a year. It’s not just customers that have noticed their poor attitude. Here are some comments from current and former employees on Glass Door. Yes, before someone feels the need to point out the obvious, I selected comments that reflect … Read entire article »

23andMe Addresses the ‘Show Close Relatives’ Settings — Finally!

UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM! Today DNA testing company 23andMe put a new policy into effect concerning DNA Relatives. Until today, June 5th, 2014, someone would have to check a box in their profile to agree to ‘show close relatives’ before they saw relatives closer than 2nd cousin such as half-siblings, parents, children, aunts and uncles, or nieces or nephews. This has caused no end of grief to parents and children being tested, not being aware of … Read entire article »

23andMe – Show Close Relatives Button

Show Close Relatives The main reason adoptees and genealogists buy a DNA kit from 23andMe is to find relatives, preferably close relatives, to help them recreate or verify their family tree. Genealogists are generally trying to either break through brick walls — ancestors whose parents aren’t known — or verify that the tree they have is correct. 23andMe Site Make Over 23andMe‘s new site makeover has given me a headache — literally! After months of negative feedback, 23andMe has gone ahead with it’s ill-thought-out site make over. Not only is this a waste of effort compared to things that have needed fixed for years (Hello — the email system is 98% Neandertal!) but the gleaming white background has made yours truly unable to even fairly review the changes because within minutes my eyes start strobing or I get spots fluttering over the screen. Within fifteen minutes I have a headache. I have other sites that are problems but it is so annoying that the site, that I use the most for my family search, is making me physically ill. Color That Site! While they seem to have realized the expanse … Read entire article »

23andMe Site Redesign – Where Is the Site Search Function?

Search Link for 23andMe For my reader’s convenience, I’m putting the link to a search page at the top of the story: Click Here to Search 23andMe New Design Despite feedback from ‘experienced’ users that they didn’t like the new beta site, 23andMe has rolled it out to everyone. I have to admit, I’m not fond of it. For one, it now overrides my background settings forcing me to look at a bright white screen. I work on my … Read entire article »
