23andMe Site Make Over
23andMe‘s new site makeover has given me a headache — literally! After months of negative feedback, 23andMe has gone ahead with it’s ill-thought-out site make over. Not only is this a waste of effort compared to things that have needed fixed for years (Hello — the email system is 98% Neandertal!) but the gleaming white background has made yours truly unable to even fairly review the changes because within minutes my eyes start strobing or I get spots fluttering over the screen. Within fifteen minutes I have a headache. I have other sites that are problems but it is so annoying that the site, that I use the most for my family search, is making me physically ill.
Color That Site!
While they seem to have realized the expanse of white has been complained about by over 75% of the people complaining, I just couldn’t wait any longer for ...

Search Link for 23andMe
For my reader’s convenience, I’m putting the link to a search page at the top of the story:
New Design
Despite feedback from ‘experienced’ users that they didn’t like the new beta site, 23andMe has rolled it out to everyone. I have to admit, I’m not fond of it. For one, it now overrides my background settings forcing me to look at a bright white screen. I work on my computer 12 hours or more a day. That bright white makes me snow blind after a very short time frame.
My second issue, is not being able to find the site search function. Here is the new ‘Home’ page. I used to be able to show it to you in one screen shot (excluding the threads I’m following) but now, I have to use 3. That in itself says you’ll have to do a lot more ...

Starting today customers of Ancestry.com’s DNA service can download their raw data. As predicted by yours truly, (over the objections of the DNA police) it’s build 37 and Phased! What does this mean to you?
Download
First, go to your ‘Your DNA Homepage’ on the DNA drop-down at Ancestry.com. Once there, click ‘Manage Test Settings to the right of the orange ‘View Results’ button. Then click, ‘Get Started’ on the right hand side (see arrow in picture above for where to find it.) A pop up will appear that asks for your password. Once you enter that, it will send an email to your registered email account. You can update your email address in your ancestry.com settings if you need to. Anyway, after you enter your password, it auto-emails you a verification email. You click on the link in that email (it took about 15 minutes to get mine, I imagine they ...
